We all know tattoos are becoming more and more popular today, and it is really great to see people are more open minded about tattoos. Today, we look at some interesting facts abut tattoos across the UK and the USA.
From the graphs above, you can see in the USA, tattoos are the most popular amongst in the age range between 18 and 29. 49% – this is almost half of all people in the USA in this age range have one or more tattoos, according to Harris Interactive. In the UK, tattoos are most common amongst people aged between 30 and 39 (35%).
Furthermore the study indicates tattoos are more popular amongst men than women in the USA. On the other hand, the UK sees higher popularity of tattoos amongst women.
So, to conclude, British women aged between 30 -39 and American men aged between 18 – 29 are more likely to have tattoos. We wonder how many of them are pug tattoos!

Thanks – I have searched the latest stats from Harris and it doesn’t say anything about UK….but it might just be me who can’t find it. Also it looks like you use the compared 2003 figures?

Hey
I’m writing my dissertation on why women believe they get tattoos and the cultural shift that has occurred regarding the acceptance of the female tattooed form, is it due to liberation or conformity? (Its a sociology dissertation). I’d be really interested to know if you had any up to date statistics on who like tattoos more women/men in the UK.
Or any information you had in this area would be awesome!
Thanks 🙂
Jodie

Hi Jodie,
Thanks for the comment and it sounds like an awesome topic for a dissertation. Unfortunately, we haven’t got any more up to date information on this. We find it pretty hard to get really accurate data. But we will let you know if we look into this more!
