When you’ve got your fresh tattoo, it’s important to make sure you take care of it properly. You really do not want to be ruining your beautiful pug tattoo! It is really difficult to determine what the best method of tattoo aftercare is, as different tattoo studios and artists may recommend different methods. This guide should give you a general idea of how it should be looked after properly.
When your tattoo artist has finished doing your tattoo, it will generally be wiped with soap in the liquid format before a layer of lubricant, such as Vaseline is applied and covered with saran wrap film or soft tissue paper.
The cover on your fresh tattoo should be left on for a few hours before being removed and washed with using warm water and mild and non-abrsive soap. The important thing to remember here is not to remove the cover straight away, as this may take longer for the bleeding and weeping to stop.
Once the tattoo is washed and dried gently, you should apply a thin layer of moisturising cream on your tattoo. Your artist will give you advice on which one to use, and some may even provide you with one. The product that your tattoo artist may recommend include; Bepanthen and Noxzema face cream. Typically, your tattoo artist will advise repeating this process two to three times a day.
Your tattoo artist may apply Saniderm, a special plastic bandage to protect your tattoo. A sack of fluid is formed over your new tattoo but under the film. This is called a tattoo ink sack, and is a normal part of the tattoo healing process.
During the healing period, there are things you should absolutely AVOID, such as bathing, hot tubs, swimming, saunas, and exposure to direct sunlight and tanning beds. Furthermore, during the healing process, your new tattoo WILL scab and this is completely normal. Just remember DO NOT pick or scratch as this could cause damage to your pug tattoo, you should just let it flake naturally.
How long it will take for your pug tattoo to fully heal will depend on the size and complexity of the design, but by following our instructions on how to aftercare your tattoo, it will allow your tattoo to be healed properly and you’ll end up with a beautiful result!
